What to Do with Your Receding Hairline

A receding hairline is just one of the many signs of aging a person must face. Men are more likely than women to experience this issue, and they often have trouble dealing with signs of baldness. Many men try to cover up their gradually decreasing hairlines with hats, spray-on hair, or hair plugs.

While it may seem surprising, a receding hairline can work out well for some men. There are plenty of women out there who actually enjoy the look of a decreasing hairline. They feel it makes a man look an appropriate age instead of like a handsome boy. With more and more women finding the look sexy, it should instead give guys an added boost of confidence.

Celebrities Have the Same Issues

Just because male celebrities appear on television with seemingly perfect hairlines does not mean that they do not also face this very common sign of aging. In fact, some of the most famous celebrities have receding hairlines that actually make them look just as good, if not better than they did when they had a full head of hair. These celebrities include George Eads, Dwayne Johnson (The Rock), Josh Lucas, and Ben Affleck. Thanks to photo editing, some have decided to make celebrities look a lot worse with receding hairlines. Among those were Sean (P. Diddy) Combs and Hugh Jackman. A quick search on the Internet will reveal quite a bit more celebrities with receding hairlines.

Choose to Be Different

Instead of worrying so much about the look of a receding hairline, take a cue from some of the aforementioned A-listers instead. These men looked great when they had hair and continue to look great as their hair quickly fades away. Think of it as a landmark that reveals man’s maturity. If a man has confidence in his appearance, even with a decreasing hairline, it can actually make him look quite distinguished.  Women are attracted to men with confidence, which means take out the hair plugs, throw away the ball caps, and strut that hairline proudly.

Reverse It

In some instances, you may be able to stop and even reverse a receding hairline. If you simply cannot come to grips with the fact that your hairline is diminishing, you may want to do just that. Some recommendations are to go see a dermatologist. They can prescribe a medication reduces the body’s production of a hormone known as dihydrotestosterone or DHT. DHT causes the hair follicles to thin out, making it harder for hair to grow, thus resulting in a receding hairline. There are prescription and over-the-counter medications that can promote the growth of hair by slowing the producing of this hormone.

Other options include:

Changes to diet. Reduce the amount of refined sugars or grains you are eating, or cut them out completely.

Surgery. You could choose to have a hair transplant and restore some of your own, natural hair.

Wear hats less. Wearing hats is often believed to increase receding hairlines.

Go Natural

While there are options to stop or reverse a receding hairline, there is nothing wrong with letting nature take its course. Considering that there are plenty of celebrities who have opted to show off their diminishing hairlines, so can you. Do not be surprised to find women who believe a man is sexier with a receding hairline.
